My So's father died last week and has left a bit of a mess behind him (he didn't really believe the cancer would get him until the last few days despite being given a correct diagnosis - this meant he did not allow himself the chance to reconcile with his long estranged children and grandchildren).
Anyway, he was a shooter and has left a gun safe with (it seems) a hand gun of some description, and a 0.22 bolt action rifle. Are the gun control rules in Eire similar to the UK, ie when we go for the scattering of the ashes could I bring the rifle back with me or if they've to be disposed off should we simply contact a local RFD and get him to sell them on behalf of the estate?

Rules are different in Eire. Easiest thing would be for me to get rid through my Club for you. We can arrange to get it added to a licence here.

Once we know what's going with with executors I'll be in touch.
