Just got back to find the bottle of VCP Mrs NB bought me for Christmas has been drunk by a bunch of Junior Officers:
Threw them out the flat - but what else apart from replacement (which is impossible out here) would be suitable...?

Stake them out in the dessert naked with their private body parts smeared in a honey like substance to attract the local version of ants
Having said that sunburnt private body parts can be quite painful as well

I am still furious...
...they thought VCP was some of the cheap prosecco left over from the party on NYE.
Anyway, a colleague is having a word in their shell-like that the only way to resupply me is to phone a friend in the next 18 hours who might be passing through duty free on the way out here. (I even had to suggest that this was how they solve the problem)
This is now a point of principle...

go traditional on them put then in the brig with the captain's daughter....cat o'nine tails. Remember, they have to tie their own and if it breaks or comes adrift the punishment starts again.
Failing that keel haul them - that will be interesting in the sand.

Officers who cannot tell their champers from fizzy-pish (as it is known in my house)???.......just who is the venerable navy recruiting these days for officer training!!?
Private butler duties? Being away fom the mrs, maybe private something else! (Well..it is the navy!)...

That's just the point...a bottle of VCP for heaven's sake (which I had secured on NYE to prevent any unfortunate drinking accidents). Was chilling it down for a special occasion just prior to my leaving after 9 months out here with the very same miscreants.
When I (almost) feel guilty about getting rather firm with them to leave I just remember that they destroyed a gift from my wife.
Sad thing is that any substitute will not taste as good.

I wouldn't feel guilty about getting firm with them, it was theft surely.Theft is theft where ever it happens.

Who was with the the children in a car to Wales at the time when I told her; eldest child of mine said "you didn't use the quiet voice did you daddy?"

I was thinking more of a written apology to be honest
(I've had to write enough in my time)

Make them do a video call to Mrs NB and get them to try and explain why they did it.To me any reason wouldn't be good enough.
To me a written apology is to hide your self from being confronted by the person and having to tell the real truth.

Not sure Mrs NB would keep a straight face...
...we have a tradition in the RN for putting pen to paper "Reasons in Writing" we call them to explain and apologise for unacceptable behaviour.

Tonight I shall be raising a glass of VCP.
All is well in the land of sand (and oil).
