You see thats what i thought but someone who is allegedly in the know says its to low geared?
I didn't think that would be possible with 1.5:1 1.8:1 4.16:1 7.2:1
Thats 20 forward gears and 4 reverse with a top speed of over 80mph and a crawl under walking pace how can it be to low geared.
That clay mud has all the proppeties of wet edam cheese. I dont even think aggressive tire's would have helped. The other sj had them and it just sank to the axles.
So its just a case of winch out time

I don't normally post on the Custom Builds section but, from what I have observed at Devils Pit, which is London clay (the grey stuff that goes like liquid ice when wet). The dumper pattern tyres seem to win every time. There was a guy in a little Auverland pulling out vehicles, some with quite agressive tyres, that were twice as heavy as his. It was great seeing him pull Landrover 90s, 110s, a Cherokee Jeep and a Nissan Patrol out of a pond and up a 45 deg slope by pure traction power. He didn't use his front winch at all. XUD power is the way to go!
The only downside is that I believe dumper pattern tyres are banned at a lot of site for being too agressive and causing damage to the ground.
PS. I can't wait to see Zero in action some day.

Very inspiring build to follow!!
Really Impressed with your work throughout the truck!
How have you found it now it's finished, is there anything you'd do differently if you did it all again??
Are you happy with the way the syspention work's at different speed's, or is it best at low speed??
Phil.

I can confirm that the suspension works fine at speed too ,
After a thorough testing of articulation , I passengered Richard round a 15 acre recently harvested Maize field ,rutted and large pools of lying water were coped with ease with speeds just under 60mph ,
Again l cant express no matter how good Zero is , the builder Richard stood out even more than the truck its self , its not often that happens
Paul Mac being the other , just a shame he was not able toenjoy the day with us , JP.

Maybe a yota or mitsi though.
Where is the challenge in doing a landy when you just bolt them together with off the shelf parts. |
you can build it with off the shelf parts...but you dont have to.
welldone! wow what a brilliant build and brilliant owner this is probably the first sj ive properly thought "i wish that was mine"

It's been sold and gone to a good home in Corby Northants so if your local you might see it at some p&p sites
