Undiplomatic Just got MTs

Looks like mine might be faulty. No amount of bleeding is giving me consistent "bite".
The factory manual says that a special tool is needed to set the gap between the booster rod and master cylinder piston.
Is there another way around it? Maybe trial and error?

****** that i just chucked my new one on mate.. was fine
even so its 2 bolts so if its wrong.

I just got a complete unit including servo all went well.
(This was after I used hydraulic fluid as brake fluid and wrecked the system)
