Just insured the Disco.
They are happy to accept membership of this forum as being a member of a Land Rover car club, so how could I prove this?

I would be wary of anyone that accepts membership of a forum as membership of a recognised Club - it's not a Club. Been there before and the insurers are pretty specific as to what constitutes a Members only vehicle marque Club.
You could always join a Club. £15 a year gives you social Membership of NI Land rover Club, which is recognised by insurers.

In insurance terms all they are saying is "I'll give you a tiny bit of my huge commission fee if you are in a club/member of a forum"
There again it might be wise to be wary of anyone in insurance

My caravan insurance offered my a 20% discount if I joined a free forum they ran. I did, they have honoured the discount both years and I won a nexus 7 in a competition they ran
I almost don't care if they pay out or not when it gets borrowed by some weathered chaps in a tarmac covered transit without my knowledge.

That's embarrassing. I'd always assumed the advertising was for difflock shop products. Didn't realise until now that others advertised. Shows how observant I am

I'm not sure what the sponsorship/advertising arrangments are wirth Adrian Flux but they offer discount to Members of the forum which is different from an insurer offering discounts for Members of a Land Rover (or any other marque) Club.
Been there done that with Sureterm which is why I'm suggesting caution and reading the small print or at least checking with the insurer rather than the broker.

I did wonder and was specific with my questions.
Its all a taped phone conversation too.
I explained I was only a member of On line forums, he said providing I can prove it that's fine.
I remember the old Club Suzuki forum providing me with a letter for this purpose in the past.
The problem I have with many clubs is the people who run them.
Often they start out good but then it become all about meetings and control.
That's why I started Thatto Heath Mountain Rescue a free club that just called and Emails each other when a good show was on but went as a club.

From conversations I had with Sureterm (the orginal owners not the current Management) they were happy to offer discounts to Members of Clubs because, in the insurers eye, people who paid to be Members of car clubs looked after their vehicles and were responsible people who were, generally, vetted by the Club whereas anyone can very easily register on a forum with no checks done.
As I say, just my experience. If you are happy with what's on offer, go for it!

1) surely the number one reason to join a marque specific forum is maintenance? most people want to know how to fix xyz?
2) what was the name of that club that drove like dicks all over wales and off piste on green lanes?
sorry ian, i cant really see a difference.
both are done purely to gain business. end of.

I feel many clubs are just ran to make money.
A few are ran buy people who have a genuine interest and the fees just cover the admin.
So which is the cheapest Land Rover club???
