Daughter has a Diesel Micra 04 plate.
I think its 15" wheels.
She has to drive to school about a 22 mile round trip mix of motorway and city
So should I fit winter tyres?
If so which?
I was hoping to get two spare wheels if possible and swap them about whats your thoughts

As long as you can look after the winter tyres as in stored off the floor, covered with UV resistant material, then fine, but i myself would fit a couple now on the front, and then March- April time move them to the rear and vice versa and see how it goes, as snow tyres do go 'off' if they aren't used or stored properly.Or if it needs tyres why not leave it until they are at 3mm and then just fit new road pattern tyres and see how it goes, as motorways and city roads SHOULD be fairly snow and ice free due to how much traffic is using them.If you want to fit snow tyres then go for something like Nokian or Michelin or Goodyear.I would have to add if Police cars start to have winter tyres fitted then you want to look at changing tyres. One thing though don't look at British Gas vans as they now use winter tyres year round.
PS it looks like an ad to me perhaps someone at the office has 'acquired' a 'test' set and then writes a glowing report about them.

Thanks
I am undecided so going to just put two new tyres on the front as they need replacing.
What would you recommend?

Stick them on the front. The rears on a Micra tend to wear a bit blocky known as heel and toe wear, if the daughter notices drumming noises from the rear, or you notice it on a test drive then thats a sign of wear in them, and they will want to be taken off at some stage even though they probably have loads of wear left on them.
