Had to go to a Calor Centre today to exchange some Calor Lites on recall and noticed while in there that Calor do welding gases - and the prices aren't bad either:
Cylinder deposit on 9L £66 returnable - no rental!
Argon mix 5 or 20% £37.50
Pure Argon £59.99
CO2 £24 .99
Oxygen £37.50
Nitrogen £34.99
All prices include VAT
I currently pay £24 for CO2 and also have to pay a yearly rental but not the handling charge that BOC scam you for
Just wondered if anyone else was aware of this?

I have the same thing from hobby weld and Adams gas do it too. In my opinion boc universal is the best I've ever used but for what I do I can't justify it.

You must do a lot of Welding, they last me about 2 years! Having a 5 and a 15 would be useful though. Someone tells me they do oxy too?

There is the BOC 'hobby' scheme, which I bring up in case you want BOC, but not their usual eye watering prices
Calor welding gases though.......I miss not having a hot flame on site. Even oxy/propane would be nice

Just had a look at the BOC stuff and it's only 2 litre bottles and they're still charging rental
I Do wonder now they can justify it...

I've got a half size full size. Its normal CO2/argon diameter and half height, if you see what I mean. I forget the code. I was paying over £80 in rental, but it came down a lot when I rang to cancel the account, due to this hobby scheme thing. I don't think they say about it anywhere? You would need to be doing a fair bit of welding to need a bottle like that. And when I get incensed I do chuck some wire at stuff
Starting a welding plant from scratch I would be leaning toward other schemes.
