|

|
Can some one tell me the type of diff I will need to replace the bust one on my 1996 R reg 1.6 petrol Vitara, bust it on my 1st time out with it at Ince offroad place will it have to come from a 1996 donor or was this particular diff used over a number of years/ models etc.
Or will I have to strip the bust one down first to see it.
Any help or info would be very much appreciated or even better if someone has one for sale please?
Cheers Steve.

I bought a spare diff case for my 4u2 and it had a different ratio than my 4u2 one, I think it was a lower gearing, you will need to get one from the same type as they do vary a lot, there is details on here in the vitara spec section.
I have the non used one i bought for sale but you are miles away from me.
good luck

yours is most likely 5.125:1
easiest indication is to take a shaft out and count the splines, if it has 22 it will almost certianly be 5.125:1 ratio.
these can be found on almost all of hte most common vitaras before 1998

The feeling you get when you first smash your shaft out, is one you will never forget.. especially if you do it in front of 10 guys. |
