This cry for help follows on from my previous post about uneven braking. Having established it's a front hub bearing problem I'm now at the stage where the new inner bearing and grease seal is fitted to the hub but I cannot get the bearing to pass up the stub axle because it's a very tight fit.

I've tried gently tapping the front face of the hub but that hasn't worked - I then started to make up a "pusher" using a scrap piece of steel, various packing washers and a bolt. The bolt goes through the piece of steel and in to the threaded hole on the end of the half shaft and bears against the hub thus pulling it on to the stub axle. BUT - I thought an M10 bolt was the correct size, but it isn't so can anybody tell me what diameter bolt to use and the the thread spec - it would appear to be Imperial. Forgot to mention that M12 is too big.

Or is there another method I've not thought of - I really don't want to damage the new bearing!

all you need is a can of wd and a strip of emery cloth .
spray it and work the emery round it .
it sounds like its just a tight fit to me , this will take a bit of time to do or may be the bearing isn`t sitting straight .
