I was just looking on the interweb and came across this well worth looking at not herd of this problem before my XJ has both petrol and lpg tanks with thick guard over the top so I would like to think that it is ok.

Don't all XJs have a thick fuel tank guard anyway from the factory?
Mine doesn't because I have an LPG conversion, but I remember removing one when I removed the std tank. Now I'm thinking maybe I should put something in its place.

a few years ago i saw a vectra pile under the rear of a grand on a motorway crash.
no fire or explosion and it was hard lifted the jeep up and back bumper was through the screen and bent the pillars of the vectra
think id rather be in the jeep than a little euro box if im going to get rear ended
