Ive cleared the bottom of my back garden for my off road stuff ( that can be stored outside or it will be in the shed )

Theres not enough room in the shed for tyres so theyr going in the garden but a few questions

Should i store them one ontop of the other or side by side? They are all mounted on rims

If side by side would this not create flat spots? Or if ontop of each other would they not affect the tyre at the bottom of the pile?

Can they be on the grass or best lifted off the ground?

What about the rain / cold / heat? I know they get wet being on the road so dont know if this will make any diffrence

They will be stored like this from anywhere from a week to 6 months maximum i would think,

Also if the vehicle is not used for along time eg 6 months , should it stay on small road tyres or better sitting on acle stands? Or could this affect chassis sitting this long on stands?

Whats peoples thought?

Store them on top of each in this way if you can.Throw a pallet on the floor, lie the first one down, next put a flat board on top of the wheel so it's not touching the tyre and rest the next one on top and so forth. When you have got them stacked cover them in the best black plastic you can tie it down and away you go.Some of the best stuff is the stuff the farmers use have you got any close to you that will let you have some.Black will protect them from the worst of the suns uv rays and kept them dry.As for storing it on wheels or axle stands for me it is axle stands every time, i have seen cars stored for a very long time that way without any undue harm coming to them.

Good post for being in the Tyre & Wheel Section

I store any place i can, but covered, and try to stop them from getting too exposed to sun and cold, but considering how tyres on cars are treated, i do not store them as though they are sugar.
(i must get rid at some point, but hate to once i have them, there might be a 3rd world war and i will need them.)

Flexible pond liner is more readily available and also UV resistant. FYI
