after the heavy rain ive inherited a misfire
thought it might be water on maf sensor
mr toseland suggested wd 40
sprayed all electrics connectors leads etc twice with a good dose including in the connectors i could seperate
now misfire comes and goes
stutters under accelleration
feels like fuel starvation
up until now vitara as been ultra reliable
any ideas on this problem ?

water in the electrics rather than water in the cylinders, rain into the air box will most often be soaked up by the air filter and then evaporate slowely into the engine causing little problem

i would start by pulling HT leads off and giving them a blast with WD (one at a time so you dont lose timing), then any associated connectors on the dizzy cap itself

is it a 4u?

if the rain was a coincedence to my sudden misfire then maybe the plugs are faulty
will check them sunday
is NGK BKR6E the best ones to use

thank you mr toseland
wd40 done the trick
seems like water might have got down plug stems as sprayed with more wd40 and cured misfire
test run seemed ok so hopefully problem solved
was beginning to think a spark plug was the problem but seems water got in the very place i thought was waterproof

everything visually checked
misfire starts after going round a corner and initial accelleration

doesnt even need to be sloshing, just a little drop shorting something out, or providing a way for an arc to proceed..

i would still be looking for things that water could pool in,
