Not sure who knows this about Sorn but it's just bit me

I was unaware that if you buy a car that has been "sorned" you must declare the sorn as well, failure to do so is an offence that earns you a instant £80 fine as well any back tax owned from the date you purchased the car. Just gives you a warm feeling knowing that the car I bought as a non runner that's been sat on my drive has now emptied my wallet before Christmas .

Might be old news but its safer to tell everyone if in doubt

Very little advertised fact by DVLA Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

The owner of a vehicle MUST SORN it (not the previous owner)

Actually you would think that DVLA would include a notice stating that the new owner must re SORN when they send the docs out

But if they did that it would cut into their profits!

Hi,

I believe that if it had not been parked within the environs of a house, nor on commercial premises, they can sieze the car, and still hit you with the afore mentioned penalty.

So leaving it on waste ground, or a back lane, could hit you hard. I wonder if the pulled you over with the car on a trailer?

Luckily, they can (could?) only charge you SIX years back tax. Even HMR&C are not as miserable ad DVLA.

I believe that, under the new regulations, they can come onto your property to seize it.
