Don't panic people I'm not about to end it all!

I'm just watching a TV program about Concorde...

I have no idea why but it's been an aeroplane I have always had a passion for I vividly remember walking through the prototype that is in Yeovilton museum as a small boy.

Anyway my biggest regret in life, never got to fly on it😕

I was horrified to see the Concorde at brooklands with the wings cut off- big machined aluminium wing spars sawn off, I was not impressed, this is turning into a rant now!

It was one of many "wants" to fly Concorde. After she was brought back into service after Paris crash we booked a flight & QE2? trip. Unfortunately she was withdrawn before we could go on it.

I remember driving past the end of the runway at Heathrow ( Windsor end ) in a soft top car when concord was taking off perhaps a hundred feet above me & giving it all the beans, awesome, something I'll never forget, this was pre M25 when you drove much closer to the runway,
Watching one land was a sight to behold, bit like a majestic duck/goose with it's head held high & it's landing gear ready for touchdown.

I used to live under the flight path, near Reading. Not long before the end I was in the town centre when Concorde went over and everyone stopped and looked up - even though it had flown over every day for years.
When it came over on a cloudy day the sound was incredible, pure power.

There was a small documentary on YouTube somewhere, saying that they had conversations with an Sr-71 pilot in concorde's early flights, who were absolutely shocked to see this thing gaining on them on their radar, and then pass them at supersonic cruising speed.. fascinating stuff.

We, in HMS EDINBURGH, had Air Traffic Control of the flypast for the 50th commemorations of D Day (we were Royal Yacht Guardship at the time). Many stories from that week but Concorde deviated from her designated air lane after carrying out the flypast over the veterans and the Royal Yacht to give us an overflight as a thank you:

She gave us a wing waggle as well Cool

Concorde. One of my favourite planes. INMO a plane grounded by jealousy

When the drawings came to UK from France. The overall lenght was given on the drawing in mm, to seven decimal places.

I live under the flight path to Teesside Airport, sorry DTV now. To see Concorde coming into land, tail down, nose up was incredable. A sight I will not forget.

I've seen Concorde three times. I saw the Air France Concorde take off on the first scheduled commercial flight from Paris. The sight and sound of it thundering along the runway was out of this world. The next time I was driving on the south circular road in south London when one appeared almost overhead, presumably heading for Heathrow. Fantastic sight and my six year old son emplored me to keep up with it - in a Mk1 Escort! The last time by sheer cooincidence I was at Heathrow at the time and it was one of the last flights into Heathrow prior to the crash in France. At that time you could still access the top level of the multi-story car park which gave a superb view.
