Hello now I know this is not a car listed on difflock but it is a 4X4 and I do need HELP with this one please.
Had this Jaguar X-Type 2.5 auto petrol for nine days and the battery has gone flat after the car was sat on the drive awaiting a set of new tyres.
Initialy took battery off without issue and put on charge.
Re-installed ok but battery not sufficiently charged to start the car.
When I disconnected the NEG on the battery this time the alarm sounded and would not stop.
Eventually stopped alarm by cyling the ignition three times in quick succession but still can not disconnect the battery without tripping the alarm.
There are now issues / remarks in the workshop manual regarding this.
Anyone on here know what I am doing wrong please let me know ?
Thanks in advance.

Pressing Unlock on the fob should reset the alarm.
Does your car have "find me" lights? That's the classic X-Type battery flattener. Wrong button on fob and the lights are on until you go back to the car and a flat battery.

Thanks, yes it has the lights home button.
Tried the unlock but alarm continued. Only thing to stop it was putting key in ignition and cycling ignition 3 times then pressing unlock as if the key to car was out of sync each time I disconnect the battery. (I replaced phob battery three days ago )

Some cars do this as they think they are being stolenif the battery is disconnected. If you have a spare battery clip it onto earth and alternator or wherever you can get it before you disconnect the other one. There will be a correct procedure for removing them that will probably involve doingcsomething with the key.
Generally i leave batteries on when I charge them despite recommendations.

Thanks I think I will just have to bite the bullet and buy a new battery. Swapping over quickly with the alarm sounding will just have to be the way forward.

She could obviously see the new battery and was happy.
