good purchase!
31 1050 15 is a good size for them.
p.s. if your diff lock still works, make sure you clean out the space between the actuator and the axle case then fill it with silicone or underseal or something like that to keep the salt out. they all rot out the same way eventually, and i'm on a mission to save the unsuspecting mk5 owners from a ******** diff lock.

youd probably never have noticed it and most never use the diff lock anyway, and it wont do any harm to anything else if it stays ******.
to try it out, get on grass or sand or gravel (any loose surface) select L4 with the 4WD stick. you should get a dash light to say your in 4x4 and the abs light as it cuts in low range.
now press the button in front of where your left knee goes that says RR diff lock and see the dash light flash red for that. drive around till it goes in and the dash light should stop flashing and stay red.
i'll explain what to look for but i dunno how much you know about stuff?!
simply it's on the N/S of the rear diff casing, theres a wee gap between the actuator and the axle case that road shyte gets trapped in and rotts the alu casing cleaning it is self explanatory

yes it is better to take it out and clean it if you want, and it is dead easy, its 3 12mm or 14mm bolts if i mind right and 2 plugs and it pulls straight out

they tyres will be tight but its is doable if you dont mind cutting bits out the end of the cills at the front (at the corners of the front doors) to let them clear.
i'v got slightly bigger on a standard hight mk5 but had to do a bit of cutting to the footwells
youd be better with a 31" tyre though unless you want to lift it or get cutting.
good luck with your difflock, tis handy if it works
