I'm not a fan of sailing but this morning I saw a clip of the American and New Zealand boats racing in close proximity and it was amazing. The American boat didn't actually seem to be in the water!.

I may have to watch a few more clips.

It's the fact that they aren't actually in the water that fascinates me - they're flying rather than sailing

that is rather odd.

Quite a spectacle indeed, but it is indeed on the outer extremities of being called sailing.

If you look at the first pic, and see the number of crew, it gives you a sense of perspective and the sheer size of these things......mahoosive!

Saw them in the flesh practicing and doing trials off Dubai a few seasons back. Amazing. We race to but when you see the speed of these it's awesome. Look up RC44' s too. More traditional monohull but still very slick!
