I'm planning on fitting a tow bar to the new Astra the question is which type -- swan next or fixed flange?

What are the pros & cons of either?

One thing with the flange type is I could put a jaw and pin hitch on - easier as tie down point for the canoe.

The car has rear reversing sensors - does this affect the decision of which to go for

I wouldn't have a swan neck unless it was removable as I don't see the point. Atleast with a standard type you can put something on to protect your bumper.

Remember if your going for a pin and ball type hitch and are planning to tow a trailer on both you need the two mounting positions to keep a trailer level.

I've never had a tow bar affect parking sensors but I guess it depends where they are on the bumper.

I couldn't get after market reversing sensors to work when I had a NATO hitch on the 110

That was because you left the trailer on...
