This is Bertha (who was, until recently) my '76 SIII.

This is Bertha being loaded on to a car transporter outside my house... Sad

However, she's gone to a good home: my little brother!

He'd hankered after her for a while (I'd always declared that he'd never get his paws on her), but he recently got married, so I figured the best present to give him would be Bertha. He was pretty chuffed.

I instantly got Land Rover withdrawal symptoms. So.... this is my latest acquisition; a '94 200tdi 110 hard top.

The reasons for buying her (other than needing a Land Rover back in my life):

It's a 200tdi (all mechanical, no computer malarkey to go wrong)
It's a LWB, so more room for everything and I can sleep in it
It's original and straight and doesn't have chequer plate everywhere
It's had two owners from new
The last owner had it for ten years and runs his own vehicle garage
It's only done 85,000 miles

I'm quite pleased Very Happy

I like that colour blue on your old SIII. Did you have it resprayed/painted by hand? Can you remember the paint code?

And why do Disco steel wheels look good on a SIII?

Tidy 200tdi you've picked up. And it'll run on veg oil...

It was painted, by hand, by the previous owner. Th eonly thing I can tell you is that they were a huge Pompey fan, hence the blue and white theme.

I hated it at first, especially as I can see the original blue underneath and all inside (there was nothing wrong with the paintwork, he just wanted it blue and white (..!), but it grew on me eventually and I figured there were bigger things to sweat about. Agree about the wheels, they do look nice, but you have to extend the wheel bolts. The SIII originals aren't quite long enough.

Would be interested to learn more about veg oil IIRC there's a big discusssion on here, already about it. I'll have a dig, thanks for the prompt.

PS. If only, RobMod, if only...
