New series next Sunday. Did they keep that quiet or did I miss the normal hype?

I was hugely disappointed. The same old trite nonsense. I hope it improves over the series or it's another BBC institution down the drain.

Spot on Richard, it was the same old boring race, usual jokes, set up crashes and sooooo dull. Unless they come up with another type of format I wont be watching the next series, that is if they make one.

Best part of this weeks show was the end credits.

I've not watched TG for the past five-six years or so for those very reasons.

What spoilt it for me was the same old tripe of a roll out of the new reasonably priced car.

cinematography - excellent
silly stuff - amusing
contrived in places - yes but so what we expect/want that
NZ piece - good stuff

I think like last time round (and the time before etc) we all grumbled at the first episode.

Old???? I'm not old. Grumpy, yes, guilty as charged and there's not a damn thing wrong with that. [insert 10 minute rant about youth of today and nostalgia not being what it once was ...]

I really enjoyed it, it is what it is, don't expect anything more, just sit back and have a chuckle at the silliness.

We have a £60 a month sky package which I would dearly love to cancel (but that's an aside) and I can honestly say it's the only program I make a point of recording and watching and if I do miss it will go onto iplayer or on demand to watch. There are other programs I enjoy but if I miss it then I miss it.

I'm afraid I have to agree, slightly. Crying or Very sad The taxi race and Dougie items were far too contrived and not funny. Having said that, the Ferrari and Mono where drool worthy.

My thoughts exactly.

Still watchable though, just for the good bits.

After tonight's I retract my retraction. Supercars arn't usually my thing and I often fast forward if its the same old round and round the track but there was enough other none stupid stuff to keep interest, the camera work as always was fantastic and the city race track really put things into perspective.
