Just acquired a Vitara 8valve engine and the alternator is non standard, can anyone tell me what amperage it is please?
MAKE: Magneti Marelli
TYPE: A127-55
It is deffo 12volt and if it helps anyone be precise, the serial No is:-
54022266B
Have tried the manf site to no avail???

A Lucas A127 alternator can be anything from 45 to 75 amp. Lucas designation would have the current as the suffix. Don't know about the Magneti Marelli but would assume it is similar.
The A127 is widely used. Could be from a Land Rover or Ford.

As Ian says the 55 probably means 55A
