Would a Freelander be happy towing a 90 Defender?

maximum trailer/load weight for a Freelander 2lt diesel is 2000kg

a hardtop 90 tdi engined vehicle has a kerb weight of 1750kg if it's Td5 then kerb weight can be upto 1993kg

Its a hardtop 90, 200tdi..... perhaps a Disco would be a more suitable towing vehicle?

I towed a 110 Def on a trailer from Southampton to Cardiff with a 2.0 l Freelander.

No problem.

My classic on a twin axle flat bed trailer with all the bits is 2600 - 2700kg. Yes it would do it but you would be risking a fine or worse.

Weight wise you going to over by quiet a lot.

If Plod or VOSA see it your risking a prohibition order which will mean you get taken off the road and a fine.

The fine these days is charged at so much a kilo over your limit, last time i spoke to some one it was £10 a kilo.

Remember this max train weight included the fuel, luggage and passangers in the towing vehicle.

Might be better to tow the Freelander with the 90 Rolling Eyes

You can do it but it is illegal, possibly unsafe and not very sensible. You can also drive at 100mph, take drugs and kill people but if you get caught you will get punished. The OP is trying to stay within the law!

Maybe but to answer the OP's original question the answer is, yes it could do it easily/happily, if not legally Wink
