Behind the four screws that hold the diff, 2-4 wheel drive controls the panel can corrode quite a lot due to age , in my haste to remove to de rust I managed to break both diff switches ? (Lemon or words to that effect ) They can be quite brittle . So I fitted some aftermarket rotary valves which I used in the snow when testing tyre s the front stayed on which I didn't know till I wanted to get out of the field ? Knew something was not right . Well the switch was not switching off . Disconnected both , don't do as I do otherwise your make more work for yourself . Looking at a brigs and Stratton fuel tap to replace crap aftermarket switches .

I think you're being a little harsh on the OE switches. I removed my panel many times without any problems bearing in mind that it is nearing 40 years old!

Always good to know part numbers of replacements though.

Still waiting for those pics!

Hi Richard , yes I agree the panel is ok to remove , it's when you remove the switches from the panel to reinforce The panel because the original is rotten , I had issues with , bad day on the tools ? The switches are very good for the age of the vehicle . Compared to a land rover of similar period they are 20 years ahead of the time ,

Boatyard chandlers again . Picked up 1/4 ball valves with small t piece handles , with 8mm tails , had to convert to big air pipes but it works and looks in keeping with the vehicle .
