Hi all.
I've recently acquired a Disco 1 3.5 v8 with a BRC singlepoint injection system.
It has recently developed a problem where it will not switch to gas (and before you ask yes it has plenty of gas in it!).

The system primes and the status light changes from red (petrol) to amber (ready) and then briefly changes to green (indicating that it is on LPG), before blowing a 10 amp fuse under the bonnet. This then knocks all power out to the LPG system.

This happened a few times before, but changing the fuse fixed the problem. We used to hear a click when the solenoids opened to allow gas into the inlet manifold, but now we don't hear it at all. I've checked all the visible wiring and it all seems ok - but now I'm stumped.

I've spoken to various "experts" and "specialists" who have said 'must be a loose connection somewhere', but that's all they say.

I've had a poke around in the BRC modulator, and it does have a diagnostic socket underneath (similar to the old s-video connection), but I can't find anyone with the software who can plug it in to have a look.

If anyone has a similar system or knows what might be causing this, I would be eternally grateful indeed.

The only place that I haven't yet looked is underneath, but as the weather has improved I'll have a look tonight to see if I've got a dodgy wire underneath between the multi-valve units and the tanks.

Thanks in advance

Eric

The DIN plug is for a special lights box. There's another diag connector, internal or external, for a laptop - but that won't tell why fuses blow.

There'll be solenoid shutoff valves at front and at each tank, the solenoid coils can go short circuit. They usually meter out 10-15 ohms. There's wires underneath to them, that can chafe, or melt on exhaust.

Not had this problem myself but I had a couple of issues with a single point system on a Ford Explorer. All were sorted with a quick visit and some advice from Jaymic in Cromer, I mention this as I see you are in Spalding which isn't a million miles from them. May even be worth a phone call to them, they were very helpful.
