Hi,
Same Disco ...1995 300TDi. I can live with my alarm problem by using key to lock doors, and fob to unlock.
Now the heater switch is playing "silly Bs". The fan only works while you are pressing the knob hard into the switch. The Haynes manual seems to indicate that it is a major job to access the switch ... remove steering wheel, etc.
Only a couple of inches from the heater switch is a cluster of blanked switch holes. That panel can be pulled out using fingers only.
Is there anyway I cab access or intercept the wires to the heater switch, so I can divert them to a new switch fitted into that panel? As the (my) heater fan is either OFF or FULL ON, a simple ON/OFF switch will be good enough for me.

Hi Spannerman.
Thaks for reply.
Dunno! I can't see how to remove the dash panel, even .... can't see any screwheads.
I'm away from home all this week, which raised the problem of de-icing the screen. I'll take a crawl under the dash when I get home.
It's crazy that a little problem like this make me wonder about scrapping the car.

It is easier to get to the plug on the heater.
Access is through the glovebox and passenger lower kick panel.
Reroute the wires from the resistor pack to a new switch.
