This explains the lack of contact over the drop-pin-fairlead. There was some thingy-compertition or other that needed prizes, and he asked for one, and I had a 'complete' available (One of 3, other 2 now gone on to better things).
Not that fussed, but can cross it off my "I wonder what happened with....." list Smile

Unfortunately the; "I wonder what happened with" list is still noticably large Rolling Eyes

1) Rules handed down by Europe
2) MSA
3) We am all skint Laughing

"Ive failed a rusty brake pipe today"

WOW.

I for one would like to see Ged, (oops i mean "a certain member") come back, plus a few others that seem to have stopped posting after he left.

I dont have broad shoulders, ive got sloping ones Laughing

I dont post much in the lounge/gallery area, however it has been so quiet recently I have visited difflock much less. You were nearly allways garunteed a laugh by looking in the social area, if not a laugh then there would be something of interest to see even if just pictures of a weekend offroading etc these posts are getting rarer and further apart.

Not only is the social side of the forum going down hill but it's had a knock on effect on the tech sections, most posts are new people asking for advice and a number of faces that are answering them, unfortunatly the questions tend to be simular and i think alot of people get bored of answering the same old questions. With the old faces at least there was more variety in questions and answers alike. Personally I think the custom builds is the most alive section on the forum which is great, but these builds which require huge commitment and capability in the workshop must scare off newbies which would filter into the social side once they are settled, losing the old faces is resulting in less newbies progressing, as it were, into the social area- a viscious cycle you might say.

I may be wrong but this is just my opinion.

Some observations.

Firstly, as far as I'm aware, GED left Difflock of his own accord. Secondly, Difflock has an average of 5 - 7 new members registering a day and, thirdly, this is a technical forum and the last time I can see that you made a helpful technical post was Fri Sep 02, 2011 at 7:25 pm.

As a final point, there are two sides to every story. Since GED left a lot of old members have returned to Difflock and started posting again.

Difflock is dead, long live Difflock

Ian - you and the other mods really need to have a look at the profiles of the new members that you get every day and don't post - a large amount of them are just spammers for SPAM sites Rolling Eyes

As for the old members that have started posting again...

I'm not counting those and I'm well aware of them as it's me who trawls through them daily to see what Admin need to remove before they get a chance to carry out their trolling activities.

As I said in my post, it was just my observations. I didn't say that I was right or wrong and it has absolutely no reflection on the person in question.

Forums ebb and flow and Difflock is bigger than one person.

When I took over 50% of the business and forum there were many who thought it would be dead within months. Both Founders have come and gone, many huge characters have come gone and returned.

Reports of Difflock's demise remain greatly exaggerated.

Personally I don't think it is directly related to 'that certain someone', more rather all the bitchy chat that has been on here recently, all about the same yawny subject.

I, like the next man like a good bit of agro but even I'm bored of that chat now, especially as it seems to be negatively impacting on the site as a whole.

Thanks for reminding me, I must give him a call later and catch up!

Who remembers the lad who dominated Difflock around 2003/4 who had a Lightweight and a Range Rover who called the Prom Queen? He posted around 100+ a day. I met home once at Parkwood Off Road with Simon and Peter and someone with an Ibex, 'twas a good day out.

My point is, as much as I like Gedi, people come and people go.

I remeber that name even if i dont remeber the guy him self.

Forms come and go up and down with the eb of the tide. We have had slow bitchy time like this in the past if any one remebers the dummy spitting compitition in 2001/2002.

No one man is indispencable and yes i like Ged, i know him personaly and im proud to know him. But he has left and the world still spins. For better or for worse thats every ones individual opinion. But whats realy hurting the flow on difflock is people saying its dieing.

If you dont like it leave. If you dont want to leave be positive with your contributions and make this site great again.
