Hi Guys,
Am building a 2CV 4x4, I can here the giggles already.
Want to have LSD,s but these are nigh on impossible, due to the small size of the diff carrier and inboard brakes.
Now an idea...
(Most) Rear wheel drive diffs only seem have one set of bearings to support the diff and also the drive shaft.
With Citroen and inboard brakes, there are two sets of bearings, diff and then drive flange/shaft.
Q. If I put a saddle on a rear wheel diff to support the brake calipers, would that work, with only the diff carrier bearings to support the diff and the braker disc?
Ideas welcome.
Cheers
Peter
ps The builds on here are quite amazing

Welcome to the forum.
As i read it i was thinking twin engines front and rear and drive using either or both.
Certainly not giggling, always good to see someting different..
Can you give some idea what exactly you are working with.
What are you using, engine/gearbox, transfer box and axles.
Any pictures to be going on with please?
'602' (John) should be along hopefully, he has 2cv experience.

The common method of making a 4x4 2cv is to twin engine.
Keep it simple and don't try to reinvent the lightbulb.

Old jag diffs had inboard brakes and if you get xj twin 6 (v12) diffs they had lsd plate type. you can strip them and move the plates to make them more or less lock

Some pics
Got a Subaru diff off ebay
Shaft is cut down inner from subaru drive shaft
Adapter cut from Citroen 2CV shaft
Disc/Caliper from Citroen 2CV
Will this set up load the diff bearings too much.
