Seeing as my bike riding has just about finished for the moment I decided last week to start a Disco project to convert it to a pickup.
A few hours work took me from this:-
Stripped the interior out:-
To this:-
An hour or so later:-
Then time for some food and planning my next move.

I don't think I've ever seen a Disco with rear wheel arches.
Nice work, keep the pictures coming.

Nice work, I've always had a soft spot for disco pick-ups.
Will you be using the original roof/rear to make the pick-up roof or starting from scratch?

I have made the rear of the cab out of the corners on both Rangerovers and Disco's before and its a very time consuming process to get to look right , I have taken a bit of a short cut and bought a cab back and roof panel from Longranger and will have that offered up this weekend. I have to do the cills and strengthen things up first as the rust has a firm hold, I will also be making them heavy duty and with tree/rock sliders.
The chassis is good and will be cleaned and painted after all my mounts and brackets are welded on.
I have a few ideas for the pickup body but will keep that until the cabs complete.
PS, the other Landrovers are my Dad's.

Not much progress over the last 7 days, all work and no play. Just managed to sort my welder and face mask, as its not been used for years and make a few patches for the footwells, ordered the steel for the cills. I hope to get some cutting and welding done next weekend.

It's not as good as it looked, its been my mothers car from a year old, I have used it on and off for a while and did some welding for the last 2 MOT's. I did all the mechanical stuff last year, brakes, discs, pads, pipes and calipers, new springs shocks and all bushes and a good service.
I need a pickup much more than a 5 seater car. Will hopefully make some time to do some welding before Christmas and get the cab in place.

Well a bit of time in the garage today after a busy month working and Christmas.
Cut the old sills out to remove all the rust and damaged metal.
It looks like they had been waxoiled at some point!
Put some 60x100 (3mm) box into the cavity and welded it up, my welding skills need a bit of dusting off as me and the welder have not seen action for 4-5 years!!
I decided to put some additional rails on the side but rounded the corners off first.
Repaired the bottoms of the A and B posts and put the sliders on and welded top and bottom.
Even looks OK with the doors shut.
Might get the front floors and inner wings welded tomorrow then I will turn it round and do the other side.

I have put in the forsale section all the parts which were removed including the doors trim and even wheel arches as they are solid and would be a nice repair panel for someone. anything you need drop me a message.

A bit more time over the weekend, made the cab fit properly with a bit of trimming and shaping of the original body, drilled and addressed all the fixing points ready for removal and sealing to make it water tight.
Inside mountings, it will be getting painted and sound proofed.
Started then to cut all the unwanted brackets and mounts off the chassi and collected the cross member and will get that placed next week snow dependant.

Hi Neilious, I am doing the same to my Commercial and was going to use sheet steel for the rear of the cab but I wondered how much you paid for the fibre glass panels, keep up the good work, I hope mine looks half as good as yours

Paul, see pm.
Not putting glass in as I aim to have a solid head board and the side windows are where I would locate the seat.
It's no issue as I am happy driving a van with no windows!
Been away all week but should get the cab installed 100% and ready to paint over the weekend. More pictures as it progresses.
