They are good trucks. Very Happy

My mate has got one and on a recent laing trip, it went everywhere my twin locked 70 on 37"s went. Twisted Evil

He let me have a go in it and it felt very nice to drive. Cool

Thanks. Very Happy

The colly is definitely a nicer drive on the road than the 70. The IFS makes it feel a lot more car like.

70 is awesome off road. Twisted Evil

90 is nicer to drive on the road. Cool

Having both seems like the best solution. Laughing

Same problem Paul!

70 and 80 are both live axle, so their never going to be as nice to drive on the road as the IFS Colorado. Very Happy

I've done some gentle, non damaging, lanes with my Colorado and it's excellent - for a big lardy 4x4. My rear diff lock has the usual corroded actuator and doesn't work, but I got it through some decent X axle stuff, and mud, without any drama. I can't afford 'drama' anyway, my wife kills me well before drama ensues. She has a terrible back problem and being thrown about is not good, so the ride quality off road is actually very good.
I've driven LR's, Lada's, Rangeys, Daihatsu's Jeep's and all manner of trialers off road for over 40 years and the Colorado is a 4x4 that I would feel very confident in driving in much more extreme conditions than I have done so far.

Collys are brilliant on and off road bit thirsty but they weigh in at just under 3ton so you cant expect much over 23mpg. You dont need to rev very hard not really more than 2000rpm buy an auto. I loved mine but mr insurance has jast taken it away and wont let me buy it back RIP Johnny Landcruiser Sad

they are both 3ltr either 1kzte 96-99 or d4d 2000-02. 1kzte 123bhp d4d 161bhp. 1kzte expect 23mpg d4d a tad more. Go for the auto they are ace no need to rev above 2k rpm round town ad will pull a house down. Watch out for cyl head issues on 1kzte. Oh and the rear diff lock is more than likely knackered because most people don't use them! Gor for it Tilly you kow it makes sense Very Happy
ps they also did a 2.7 4 cyl or 3.4 v6 petrol version

Hi is there anything wrong with a manual as my dad is on the look out for one now. He just hates autos in general that's all.
Cheers lee.

Nothing at all, I just prefer auto boxes. I would point out though if you have a look at the size of a manual gearbox (its vast) would you like to change the clutch? Very Happy

2" lift and some 33s is a good start! they need to be 16" or bigger rims though 15" rims are a non starter the brakes are to big. 285/75x16 or 305/70x16 = 33" or there abouts. Is the rear diff lock working?

Why is that then? It looks to be a tidy motor at a glance it looks to be an FX trim whats it got? being a late one I would think it is fairly well loaded. The D4D is much more frugal than the 1KZTE by the sound of it!
