|

|
The two yellow traction control and ABS warning lights have come in my 2005 td5 Defender...traction control is inoperative but, surprisingly, ABS still works (easy to check in snow)!.
This puzzles me because usually when both lights are on, both don't work. I've had this in the past due to excess play in a wheel bearing.
Any thoughts before I have to start spending money and take it to a dealer...?

check for play in the wheel bearings, also push the sensors into the hubs..then spin tbe wheels to reset the gap.

Thanks bigammer..
There's no play in any of the bearings. How do I push the sensors into the hubs? Do I need any tools?

no tools required, just gently tap them down, give them a bit of a wiggle with some grips, then spin the wheels, it may work, also maybe worth just trying to back off the bearings 1/2 turn and then spin wheel, then tighten back up, its worth a try, worked on mine

OK that did the trick!! There was a lot of ice around the sensors.
Thanks

TD5... Bearings sealed unit not ajustable, neither is the sensor air gap. Be carefull the sensors split very easly.
