Hi

I have a 2000 grand vitara TD and when ever it rains the front passanger floor gets soaked, i cant see where it gets in from, even when i pour a bucket of water over door/windscreen.

The water seems to pool more in the centre of the food well and the top of the carpet under the dash is bone dry.

Are there any common areas these leak?

your best bet is to sit in it, and have a friend hose it down gently with the shower attachment, do everything, it may be running down the window, through the inner of the door card and into the footwell but in reality it could be a number of things

assuming its dry when you get in it, even if its been raining then possibly somewhere under the car

Do you notice gets wet only when you drive? or if the car is not driven and it was previously dry, and rains, it gets wet (that would suggest something to do with the outside seals of the car)

Mine used to get wet there. I had a hole in the floor, and water got in by being thrown up from the front wheel.

My Vitara (not Grand) used to get wet there. It was caused by 2 things:

The rubber seal that sits between the bonnet and the firewall was leaking, so the water that should have been displaced to the site of the car, after running down the windscreen, instead ran down the firewall.

And, the 2 easy access cable holes in the firewall wasn't sealed up, so the water came in through them and ended up on the passenger floor.

A new rubber seal solved it. I now also usually fill these holes with silicone unless I've got rewiring going on.
