Hi 04kendalld

Yes it does sound like it hopfully you will get away with adjustment but really i would check the bearings to all 4 wheels and either re-grease, re-place, or adjust all the bearings, hope this helps Smile

It is the same for both

You sould look at the kingpin bearings as well.

If the slack is only if you rock the wheel with your hands at the top and bottom then that is the likely cause

It is easier with a helper if they rattle the wheel and you look from the inside it should be clear where the problem lies

Oh and welcome to difflock Smile

Hi,

Get somebody to hold brake pedal down while you shake the wheel. Brakes will lock wheel to swivel assenbly, so ....

If the wheel no longer wobbles, its the wheel bearings.

If wheel continues to wobble, hold it top and bottom to check king pins, then front and rear to check TRE (track rod ends).

If it is the king pin then i would expect it to be the top bearing shot as they are very rearly looked at or maintained and it is the top one that suffers from a lack of lube

I doubt you will get away with just doing the shims

If you look at where the brake pipe comes down to a bracket on the top of the swivel housing the shims are under there #

If you have a look it is fairly easy to see where it pivots from there is a bearing top and bottom

But if you have not looked in to it before then the manual is a good place to start

Have a look here

Right so now have checked using the brake that it was the bearing, so removed them, they wasn't broken so needed adjusting. done that put it back together, all good no wobble, took it for a drive then checked again and back to square one still wobbles, drivers side is also wobbling not as much though.

Also only just replaced front prop uj's not sure if that could do anything, and when I break its sometimes soft then hard etc

Anymore help with a solution would be great.

Hi,

If you look at the bearing "race", (the outer ring), and see a ridge where the rollers have been wearing it ..... you can adjust the slack by forcing the rollers onto that ridge. But once round the block, and the ridge will cut a corresponding ridge into the rollers, and you are back to square one.

A new set of bearings are cheap enough and change the locking tab whilst you are at it.
