Hi All,
I've just purchased a Disco S1 with the trusty 3.5 v8 injection in (mainly for camping and the Honda CR-V we already have is getting too small for the kids).
The previous owner went to the trouble of having a BRC LPG conversion done (although this was back in 2001). From looking, it seems to be a single point system (not multi point) as there's no obvious connections to the injectors.
It's a multi tank system (from checking the original paperwork) and it runs fine on both petrol and gas, switching automatically when the revs are right.
The system is fitted with a digital gas gauge (gas level indicated by LED's) with a rocker switch on to select petrol/gas/auto.
When we purchased the truck all four gauge lights were flashing green. We were told that this was normal, but having spoken to several different LPG 'specialists' we now know this is not normal, and the lights do not go out as the gas level drops.
Does anyone on here have a similar system installed, or know what the flashing lights actually mean? I've located the ECU for the LPG and it has a diagnostic port attached.
If you need pictures please let me know
Cheers
Eric

It sounds as though you have the same system fitted as I have on the P38.
Mine came with no information at all, I didn't even know there was an auto mode
I will be interested in the answers on this one.

All green lights flashing on BRC switch means "tank too full", its intended to warn against a failed or overidden 80% fill stop.
In real life, it probably means the tank level sender has failed, or more likely the wired connection to it. In the case of multiple tanks, only one will have the sender fitted. It is also possible for the float arm inside the tank to stick up, giving a false permanent full indication.
To add more doubt, the matching/calbration of sender resistance reading to lights display is done in software which can be altered. If the software settings have got lost or been fiddled with, or a different type of sender has been fitted from before, it won't work properly
First port of call is probably to have a little lie down with a torch and dentists mirror on a stick to see if you can find the sender and what the mechanical needle on it says.

Thanks for the info Rossko.
After reading your comment, am I right in thinking that there is a mechanical gauge as well as the electronic one? If there is one, this would be a useful double check.
From speaking to the installer, he only put a sender in one tank (the one nearest the filler I think), so we should have 4 green lights for ages and then suddenly the level would appear to drop off a cliff - but as we can't work out how much gas is in the tank(s) driving it is a bit of a lottery!.
I'll crawl under at the weekend and have a peek with a torch and a mirror.
Thanks
Eric
