Is there a quick way of seeing which front diff I have in the shed? I think its a 4 speeder as thats what I converted my Niva to in the late 90's after smashing the original 5 speeder. Turning shafts and counting the turns on other bits??
I am 99% sure that I bought this one as a spare as it was virtually free.
Ditto is there anything I might need to know about the 2 transfer boxes I have.
The lot is going up for sale as the Niva went 10 years ago and it might be handy to know what I am selling.

No quick way I'm afraid. The number of teeth should be stamped on the crownwheel but by the time you're there you may as well count them.

Transfer boxes are all the same bar the plate that has the speedo drive/speed sensor and this is interchangable.

whip the front cover off the diff. There will be a few numbers stamped on the crownwheel. the first will be 2121 then

10/41 (or could be the other way round cant remember) 4.1 ratio diff
10/43 is 4.3 ratio diff
11/43 is the 3.9 diff

a 1600 transfer box has one speedo output and a 1700 has two

Very Happy
