Ladas needed for Billing Classic-car Show - link removed
Please feel free to advertise this event but don't link to another forum which is against the rules (and when the Mods remove a thread don't repost it in exactly the same way)

To be fair to Baxter, ithink he was just trying to save himself some typing by putting a link in to a place where it was already posted.

When the mods remove a thread it's polite to pm and say why. I find that avoids the user making the same mistake repeatedly.
Anyway thanks for allowing me promote the event here, but this thread is not to promote the event - it is to hook Lada owners up with the person trying to organise a Lada stand at the event. That's a bit difficult when I can't link to his thread.
Am I allowed to ask people to email me at mark.baxter@op.ac.nz and I'll give them the link?

I must admit I find this a rather draconian attitude. The Lada UK forum is the correct place to inform people that there's a classic car show that would like some Ladas.
Surely a link to information about a non-commercial event is allowed. It is, after all, where the majority of Lada owners go for Lada information.
Yet again Difflock is going out of its way to alienate the Lada members.
Great work chaps.

I checked that thread and there are comments about using a defunct Club's free pitch at Billing to promote someone's business. That is NOT what our free promotion for Clubs and Charities is all about.
As for more typing, cut and paste, dear boy, cust and paste!!
If the Lada owners stuck to the rules that have been in place for many years and followed happily and easily by everybody else then maybe this thread would not have needed moderated.
Yet again the Lada section is going out of its way to annoy Difflock's Mods and members.
Great work chaps.

I find that if a member is polite enough to pm a Mod to ask the question first then they do not make any mistakes at all.

Richard. What Lada parts does Difflock actually sell?

Are you trying to claim that the Forum rules do not apply to Lada owners because there are no Lada specific parts on the Difflock shop?

Just for clarity, and to prove that one does not need to type much, here is an extract cut and pasted from the link referred to above:
Note, the emphasis is mine
Quote: | Yep the club is defunct, but thought it might be worth having a stand anyway and instead advertise Neils business and forum
|
Several rules obviously and clearly broken yet you think WE'RE being heavy handed

I'm merely trying to ascertain whether you class Lada UK as a commercial competitor.
Right. Seeing as you're being pedantic and petty so shall I.
The link in question was to a thread started by a forum member with no association with the business. The link was not an advert and the user had no authority to suggest promoting the business. However, I commend him for attempting to do so on the Lada UK forum and the show in question. Applying the same logic every YouTube link should be deleted because the vast majority of videos on YouTube contain adverts.
In my opinion there was no conscious attempt to advertise a commercial business and I re-iterate that links to other fora or webpages advertising such events should be allowed.

Difflock does not allow promotion of other forums especially commercial ones whether directly competitive or not
The Club that was also being promoted is "defunct" and therefore does get free promotion on Difflock.
The first thread was removed for these reasons and the link in the second removed for these same reasons irrespective of your opinion as to why it was done or what little thought or otherwise was behind the OP.
There are ways and means of announcing the opportunity which would NOT have broken the rules. Advice was not sought and petulant posturing will not make any difference to the Forum rules nor the way they are enforced.
The fact that there are/were free tickets available for Lada owners for a Classic car show is something that can be promoted on here but I am not here to enter into a 'conversation' or 'debate' with someone with an overdeveloped sense of entitlement over someone else's property.
Baxter has done this several times before, he (and you) know the rules. The rules were broken and the Moderators dealt with it as normal. I am sorry you don't like it but insulting me does not strengthen your case.
NOTE: I have not locked this thread as I believe in open discussion but I, or any other Mod, may get bored with you and delete/lock it at any point.

I must have been editing that while you posted Richard. You may re-read if you wish.

The mods don't make the rules, we merely apply them ... And I'm not using the Nuremberg defence, we do apply some kind of logic but the same rules are applied to everyone.
I accept your comments and your point of view but had Baxter contacted us firs we would have suggested putting in his own post without the link.

As above, why would I have contacted you first? I didn't know or forgot about the rule about not linking to other forums.
When you have picnicknety rules that are unlike other forums people aren't realistically going to remember them.
If it's such a big deal just delete this thread. The hassle of simply trying to invite Difflock members that might be interested in a club stand isn't worth it. Their loss not mine.

We did but you re-posted it KNOWING it had been deleted!

It isn't a club stand, the Club is defunct and the stand was going to be used for advertising a business which is welcome to pay for advertising on Difflock if it wants!
The end.
