Block heaters maybe worth a look. Also a glow in the fuel line, many ways of pre heating the fuel and engine.

but the fuel in the injection pump and injector lines will still be cold

Any heater you fit to the fuel line will not and cannot overcome the cold injection pump, cold pipes, injectors and pistons.
A block heater that heats the coolant such as a kenlowe unit would help.
A twin tank conversion would be the ideal solution.
What vehicle/engine?

No, fit an inline glow plug in the fuel line. This is ten year old solutions to this problem.

but the fuel in the pump and line will still be cold unless you fit one in each injector pipe

total ********.
he is looking to sort the problem on startup so as you have already been told, the block and pistons will be cold and the injector pipes, pump, and pipes from filter to pump will all contain cold oil, which will smoke.
so the ten year old solution didnt work ten years ago either.
simple.

they do, but in their own specific way, and they dont help with smoke on startup.

Do you also have block heaters fitted? Which pre-heat the engine upto just under running temperature? Or are you going to carry on telling people that they don't exist?

thats strange, that`s what we were doing. cant you read? there is no heater that will stop the smoke on startup. save your money for the twin tank. hence the original answer.

i don`t think theres one definitive answer to this , even a warm engine and cold fuel will still smoke on start up .
so its either twin tank it , which i think is a lot of hassle for little ,if any gains , or do what the rest of us do , live with it . its only for a few minutes after all . mine fills the street on cold mornings . do i care ,, hell no , have you tried adding deisel to it try a 50/50 mix and see if it improves if it does and i think it will then try 60/40 veg/deisel mix untill you find the point at when it starts to smoke , then back it off a little . it might not be a cheap to run as using just veg , but this way your both happy . you on veg and the mrs for it not smoking .

Even the induction heaters that wrap the HP lines do not ensure a clean cold start.
Indeed they make it better, especially after 15-30 secs of running.
Glowplug heaters such as these
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vegetable-Oil-Fuel-Sy...sh=item4167716a14
are a waste of time, money and electricity/fuel.
Yes, they decrease your MPG when switched on...
These are the shizzle
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HEAT-EXCHANGER-biofue...sh=item3cc7f39aa9
I've noticed an MPG increase when running straight Dino with with a heat exchanger fitted, don't know why.

How about adding a bottle of "FORTE" to the fuel tank to see if it helps. You can find them on www.forteuk.co.uk for information.

because they put an additional load on the engine - producing electric to heat the glow plug

The 'FORTE' worked okay on an old Defender TD running on bio so it must have done something right. It is about a tenner a bottle so not too expensive to put a bottle into half a tank or so of fuel, it certainly won't do any harm and might do some good.

forte works best at high revs ,low speed and all it does is remove any varnish ect from the fuel system .
its best added to a near empty tank for best results .it works quicker as its more concentrated going through the system .
i use this on more or less a dialy basis in customers cars that are slightly over on the emmisions after a service ,iIE all ready had the filters done .
that said , it still won`t stop the smoke on start up .
