Hello

Recently brought a 1999 V reg Suzuki grand vitara TD

I have had so much conflicting info on what engine i have. I thought it was a Mazda Rf, however i have been told that it could be anything from a pug to Renault. the previouse owner was told it was a Honda. lol!

I would be very grateful of an answer once and for all!

Next question, what make of fuel pump would i have?

The GV has 116k on the clock and seems to be running well, however i don't have any service manuals or owners books, could someone let me know of anything that specifically needs doing, are there any grease points hidden away that need regular packing? This is my first turbo diesel car do you still need to allow the turbo time to settle before turning off the ignition?

Great forum, thanks in advance for any advice

James

if its teh 2.0ltr then teh likelyhood is its the TD from mazda.

1.9 units were pugeot units, which were used in renault, citroen, peugeot and a few other japanese cars, they were used in the OLDER vitara commercial TDs..

i may be wrong, but i am pretty sure the GVs use the mazda unit.

The engine number should be stamped on it and in the log book, I don't know about the Pugs but the Mazda number will start RF
