Ex vitara

Hi been playing around with my old vitara and a tube bender
I was hoping to build something resembling the ford ex concept but its starting to look more like a vw sand rail,

as you can see basic frame is built but just need an issue clarified I want to extend or replace the original out riggers to bolt the new frame to
as I read it no chassis mods or its sva time does this also cover modifying the out riggers i.e cutting them off making new ones and welding them back to the chassis then bolt the frame on to the new out riggers.

Has any one done similar with outriggers without an SVA

You didn't change them ! You replaced them with uprated ones as part of rust repair didn't you Wink

If they look right you wont have a problem unless your mot tester is supper anal. It's mainly when you remove x members or chop and shorten the rails.
Make it look factory and you won't have a problem.

Thanks for the tip, yes they were badly needing replaced Very Happy

It will be going to the local mot tester who has dealt with a few of my kit cars before but I was looking for a second opinion as I wouldn't want to see him getting grieve on my behalf.

everything I seem to read it is all a grey area on outriggers some say its a chassis mod others say no it's allowable.
Myself and my m8 reckoned that any thing we fabricate will be heavier than factory produced and as this is only extending the life of the car and not for any extreme off roading.
