Looking good.
Question, Did you need to cut any part of the arches out to get the tyres and rims in.

yes mate only the front had to cut the wing and some of the sill it still needs some more modding on the sill area but it usable for the time being
but if they were on standard offset wheels they shoud be ok with minimal trimming

Jay, awesome van you have there.

Those wheels are going to start causing you problems with tie rods and draglinks going in a hurry. The D21 steering and IFS setup is rubbish and when I went onto 31" muds, I chewed and spat out at a rate of a set per off road trip. I drilled out my ball joints on my draglink and repalced with 18mm bolts running with vesconite bushes, these last a lot longer, but the tie rods still are a problem.

Last time I replaced with a product called Teknorot, and they seem to be doing much better. BUt I also went back down to smaller rubber due to financial issues Crying or Very sad ...

Here you can see my draglink with that bolt I used to replace the ball joint.

If we insist on taking these things into proper off road places, I am afraid, our only real option is ..

SFA Twisted Evil

hi mate and thanks
i am awere of the weak draglinks ball joints ect the tyres are only going to be used for off roading i will run smaller tyres on the road but on the same note im looking into doing a rose jointed set up with plenty of strenthening ive been running 33s for the last year on it and no problems yet but dont worry im waiting for it lol

You've done very well with 33's on for a year now. What are your gear ratios like off road. I already noticed with 31's that my speed was slightly up. I love to crawl, and would like an even lower ratio.

This is now also my big challenge with the SFA on a Dana diff. Best ratio I can find is a 4.1 where I am presently running a 4.88. Now I have to change both front and rear diffs. Then look at a re gear which works out nearly double the cost of the diff.

So my SFA is on a fairly lengthy hold for now till I can figure some thing out. I have also been contemplating Hilux diffs and attempting to do a tube swop. They are much cheaper and a lot more options. Then of coarse what I really like is to go the Dana route and add a second transfer case to achieve better crawling speed.

Anyways, still love your Terrano. Here by us the short wheel base was not very common compared to the long wheel base.

but yea they look Cool

they should be,if they are too soft you can get new longer/shorter and more/less pundage springs for them
http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/COILOVER-SPRI...6f3c237474035abd4
you can get them cheaper if you look around for them

splines on the torsion bar gose straight into the bottom arm
strut brace good idea but not sure how as the shocks are pretty low down ill have a look tomorrow if it could be done

if you do it the same as ABCAB then its springs and dampers in one
you could then make a strut brace that will go over the top of the engine

Sorry, I missed the post (email goes to web address that I don't check too often)...

That hoop was designed and installed by a local company called Camil suspension. It is ONLY a helper spring due to nose dive the D21 was prone to with the extra weight of the full body and especially the diesel motor.

I still have the torsion bars along with the springs you see. When you fit that setup, you can expect about a 35mm lift on the standard torsion bar setting. Keep that lift and start enjoying the rapid deterioration of ball joints, tie rods and draglink. Add 31" rubber and you get to point that I had a spare set of tie rods in the boot to change on the road.

I did a trip once with around 600Km gravel, and changed them on the side of the road at around 1300Km into the trip.

I do however like the hoop setup, and will probably just beef it up slightly when I go the solid axle route eventually.

Go check out this guy's website, http://nissannut.com/projects/SAS_3link/ He has some great projects with a lot of details.
LOL, he is kinda the SFA king.

That Maverik is a re badged Nissan down to the last bolt. We are now looking into doing a conversion of an old 2.5 Diesel truck to a QD32ETI motor. We are really struggling to get ECU specs and general information of the QD32ETI, but it used the same ECU as the 2.7ETI that came out in the Terrano and Maverik.

I think we have a ECU that we hope to bring in from the US somewhere from a Maverik for like 30 Dollars.

If we can get that thing to work here, that motor puts out 150KW without the EGR, CAT and particulat filter Twisted Evil (which we don't need here)
