I'm not 100 percent but i think either the gl5 or gl4 is better suited to gearboxes with yellow metals or something. I read a thread on a vitara gearbox that was wrecked due to using the wrong oil

Whoops. I have put GL5 in both gearbox and transfer box. Think I may have made a bbbb. The bloke at the auto spares shop said that GL5 was better because it was Higher spec.

You can google loads on this, but basically,
GL5 contains more extreme pressure additive, for use in differentials, and the first generation were high in sulphur that eats the zinc out of the brass bushes in a gearbox.
I doubt if this is the case nowadays, certainly the fully synthetic 75/90 I have here claims full compatibility with both GL4 and GL5.
GL4 is usually specified for gearboxes.

Contact the Difflock shop. They will know and can look in the big book of lube and tell you which is right for your vehicle. They also sell very good quality oils so you can get your new oil from them and help support the forum.

GL5 is basically a replacement for GL4, can use it no worries (I have it in diff/box etc on my truck.

please DONT use GL5 in your truck if it has "yellow metal" (brass) bushings.. you will end up with an extremely expensive bill for a rebuild of your box and all seals etc..
find out what is specified for your truck and use that.. simple
unless it states for use in GL4/GL5 applications, assume lots of damage will be done..
for a zook, this means GL4 in the gearbox (manual ofc) and GL5 in the axles, transfer box.
