Hiya,

I'm trying to remove the small bunch of gears in the middle of my diff, but theres a small bolt with a splined head that I need to remove.

Theres loads of splines on it, so the Torx sockets wont fit.

I'm guessing threes a specialist tool needed to fit this bolt? Does anyone know what it's called or where I can get it?

Thanks.

1/4" socket. Actually i had more luck with a 1/4" ring spanner as its bit tight in there for a ratchet.

Fortunately i have great little tool shop on the other side of town. Cost me a couple of quid. Useful to have when bleeding brakes too.

I had the same problem at the weekend when I had to replace my half shafts and bearings. Bought a set of AF spanners from Machine Mart with the smallest size being 1/4" and it worked perfectly. It was a professional set and cost £20, but they did also do 'normal' sets and these were about £7 from memory.

When you re-fit the small screw make sure you put a little Loctite on there to keep it in place. Officially it needs 14 ft/lbs but my torque wrench won't fit in there so had to guess.
