Is there an suitable app about to access Difflock from my phone? I have tap-a-talk and forum runner (for android) but can't get Difflock on either...
If there isn't one about is there any chance of getting one?

but then you get all the pictures and adverts trying to load, if you use an app, everything is streamlined so you don't waste your Internet download allowance....

would be good if there was a way, using browser on my iphone i spend half the time scrolling around and zooming in/out to be able to read everything, and most times i'm using my phone for the net means its tea time at work and don't get great signal in tea room so takes agess to load all the ads etc

Until I used the app, I couldn't see what the problem was. I know exactly what you mean about the scrolling.

It would be good to sort out, cos if you haven't got unlimited data the ads and all the other stuff you don't need to see would take a huge chunk out of your usage

Fair enough but you could use mobile ads like the rest of the apps instead of a huge banner stealing your data most apps have a bar across the screen at the bottom with ads, still have the ads but they are just a text banner so cost nothing in data usage, I think their called apple smart ads or something, but there are versions for androids and others

There was no mention of paying for it, but perhaps that's a possibility!

I have a few apps that have adverts all over them but for a few pence or quid you can get it ad free.
I'm not often difflocking when mobile but I'd cough up a couple of £ for it.
Are they difficult/ expensive to develop?

There is an app called tapatalk, I think I've already mentioned it, it's £1.49 I think and lots of forums are on it, and it says tell your forum administrator to turn this feature on to make it available on the app, dunno if it can be done with this forum though

anyone can write an android app.

maybe ask them?

I think tapatalk is OK, but I prefer forum runner. It's dead easy to set up on phpBB, but there is a £1-1.50 charge for the full version of the phone app.
The free version is great for viewing the forum, but you can't post anything.
The full paid version lets post, and let you really easily upload pics from your phone, which is nice!!!
In absense of this I use opera mini on my phones and full opera on my PC.
Forums display correctly, because Opera works differently to other browsers.
Opera Mini says to it's servers... download that page and render it.
Then the server sends you the version that it has rendered for your phone/browser.
This helps to get rid of bits of code or page elements that regular phone browsers don't like displaying.
Plus, ad blocking is synchronised between Opera and Opera mini, so what is blocked on the PC is also blocked on the phone....
In summary, you could write an app to browse the forum, but it would probably be very time consuming for a novice programmer. Its a much better option to just cough up a couple of quid for the app.
Although saying that, Difflock would still have to install a suitable mod for phpBB to work with the app...

Hi,
An interesting thought process going on, we have got lots of developments thoughts running around here at the moment at Difflock and mobile is obviously an incredibly fast moving media that we should be embracing.
Let me look into it a see if we can't come up with something.
Any further ideas and thoughts would be gratefully received.

i downloaded tapatalk earlier which has already been mentioned a few times on here, in the info about it, it says its only a small mod needed to the forum for it to work through there system, it seems nice and easy to use, everything fits pages properly, etc etc. seems like all the hard works been done just needs something changing at difflock end?
only trouble is i already seem to spend enough time on here

We have used Forum Runner at Suzuki Club UK...>
but now we don't really need to! new website layout makes (almost) everything display properly!
I'm gonna leave it on there though in case anyone wants to use it.
Might add tapatalk support as well but nobody's requested it yet!
