I am renovating a 1962 Haflinger & am having trouble with assemby of the front wheel portal hubs; having stripped them down & replaced seals & bearings, when I re-assemble they seem 'tight' ie not able to easily turn by hand. This could also be a front diff problem, as I took the diff apart to get the sideshafts out & cleaned up.
Any help & comments appreciated.

Thanks

Hah.... found the problem. Stripped the hubs again, found the sideshafts were still tight, but when I took the coil springs off and set the swing arms horizontal, everything freed up & I was able to turn the sideshafts by hand. When I re-assembled the hubs, I made a paper gasket instead of using silicon-gasket sealant, which also may contribute to freeing up things at the hub end. Probably need to shorten the chains used to limit the swing-arm travel: Anyone know how long the original restraining straps are?

I think I'm ready to put the body back on now... happy days.

Sorry no idea, but thanks for posting your results. Hopefully that will be useful for someone with the same problem.
