The good news is that I have spoken to two letting agencies in the area who both have a waiting list of people wanting a house just like mine so I should be able to get it sorted before I am out of pocket. Razz

I would sell it but due to the house prices falling since I bought it in 2007 I owe the same amount as it is currently worth and am not selling it just for the sake of it when it has cost me £45,000 in mortgage payments just to own it for the last 4 years! Shocked

You're better off keeping it for the next few years atleast or if you keep it for the rest of life then you've got a nice retirement fund. I'm getting my new house soon. Can't wait.

Still no rent and have no tenants lined up so not spent any money on the trak this month but that isn't stopping me having some fun! I am entering my first Tyro tomorrow with the North Lakes 4x4 Club and as the ground is wet and it has been raining all day I can see tomorrow being extra fun! Wish we luck! Razz

have fun mate but be careful, sometimes tyro's can be quite harsh on vehicles.

Nothing too difficult or damaging but today I found that the turning circle of a Fourtrak did not do me any favours at all and that the large articulation on the rear I have been so proud of cost me 11 points as my dangling rear tyre brushed gate 11!

Ground clearance is still an issue but can't do much about that at the moment without some serious modifications. Brand new standard Defender made it look easy!

No photos or videos as it was windy, raining, cold and I though just bamboo canes in a field wouldn't make exciting footage.

Just read some rules that during RTV or Tyro events that vehicles with wheel base over 95" are allowed 1 shunt per section but due to only 6 entering last weekend we were all put in the same class which might explain why my 100" Fourtrak struggled to get round without a shunt. Laughing Rolling Eyes

Started having a look at my rust on the rear wheel arch this morning. I knew before I started it had to get worse before it gets better so decided to put a sanding mop on the drill and start taking away the paint and rust back to bare metal.

It looks like it has been repaired before with filler but the rust has come through again.

I didn't have much time and it was going to rain any second so I have just coated it with black Hammerite for the moment until I can get it sorted properly, likely with fibreglass, filler and then paint it.

traks are great at rusting from the inside out, so be warned when you uncover places like that.

Mark,

i would take the panel off the inside in the back of the trak and check the inner arch etc . . . i will guarantee the panel is rusty on the inside.
The best way if your keeping the trak is to cut the rot out.

Not something you wanted to hear but its the best way of doing it.

I don't use it, don't go offroad enough to justify having it and thinking of getting rid of the road car and the fourtrak and buying one that will be a comfy road car but also pull a horse trailer and manage when the winter weather gets bad. Looking at something like an Audi Q5/Q7, Range Rover Sport, Toureg, X5 etc etc.

Have a look at a Kia Sorento 2.5 crdi, good on fuel ecomeny and is as good if not better than the above at towing. Good value for money with high equipment levels and more reliabile.

Bought a VW Touareg. 3.0 V6 Diesel. Its very nice! Cool

Mandy drove the Range Rover and thought it was too slow. I did like the idea of the Kia and admit it would be an excellent option but I have been messed about by the garage that sells Kia in Carlisle I wouldn't buy from them again. The new Sorento I would have wanted was £30,000 and I thought the VW would hold its money better and is built to a higher standard so worth the extra.

Wasn't interested in a estate or rear wheel drive as it needed to tow 2800kg for the horse trailer and 4x4 is useful for towing the trailer through fields and if it snows this winter.

I have now traded in the Dodge so want to get rid of the Fourtrak too. Spec to follow...

The Daihatsu had the body lifted last year and had the chassis fully checked over and had the sills and rear cross member replaced as well as new suspension mounts and pan hard mounts. It was then fully waxoyled and the body resprayed. Since then I have fitted pro comp shocks all round, 2 " Blood Red Offroad rear lift springs, 2" Blood Red Offroad Body Lift & Flat plate cross member skid plate. It also has 38mm Blood Red wheel spacers to stop the tyres touching the shocks and bodywork as it has huge articulation! I have 2 sets of (5) wheels. One set is the original Daihatsu wheels which are painted black and have road tyres on. The others are the ones currently on which are Chrome with Khumo Mud Tyres which are still like new. A bar on the front with 2 Hella Spots, Blood Red Offroad custom roof bar with 4 spots all of which were professionally installed. It has 2 spots on the rear for reversing and an amber flasher on the roof. Also there is a CB radio professionally fitted into the dash and 5 foot stinger on the roof. The seats are always covered so in great condition. I have a frame that fits in the back and ply board although this is not fitted at the moment so mountain bikes can fit in the back. I have 100's of photos of most of the work I have carried out and I am sure I have missed lots of details. It had a recent service including all the diff oils, gear box oil, engine oil, filters, etc etc. It has a new drainplug and hose from Difflock too. I also have a 4ft Hi Lift Jack that will come with it. Tax until end June 2012 and MOT will be done shortly. Private plate "N33 WHR" included. £2500 ono

I dont really want to break it up as the roof bar and spot lights are all hard wired in. It would be a shame to have to strip it all out.

Thanks though.
