It's a 4 cylinder, I believe after a net search to be Mazda SL35t 145bhp.
looks to be highly regarded. apparently the engine drops straight onto V8 engine mounts.

that engine is the SL35 , same as in my brothers Foers Ibex ,
the perkins copy is 3 litre ,182 cu in , I have one in a rangy , the 35 is reliable but thirsty , but pulls like a train ,
I still prefer the ISUZU 2.8 tdi over both the above
Just my personal preference . JP.
[edit] oil filters were a pain to source for the sl35t , best get a few if you find them ,
My brother in law had one in a Disco , but changed back to a 300 tdi , [ fuel costs only] the Engine then was put in his sons 90 , but stolen shortly after , ........... interesting to see them occasionaly .... JP.

There were 3 versions of this engine :
SL35-naturally aspirated
SL35T-turbocharged
Sl35Ti-turbo intercooled
I have the SL35 in my 127 tipper which I use for work, being built to go into lorries (mazda titan) it is very solid. All cast iron. It was a replacement for the V8, conversion carried out by M&D engineering.
The SL35ti in a rangie would apparently return 35 mpg, mine is about 27 mpg when the truck is empty and not towing which is very rare.
Haven't found getting filters difficult.
Mine won't start when temperatures drop so had to instal kenlowe hotstart, may be a weak starter.
No glow plugs just heater element at intake manifold.

It is indeed a Mazda SL35 (the sticker would suggest though not guarantee the Ti version)
The info Alban has posted is correct, though the engine was also used in Mazda T3500 series minibuses and a few other vehicles.
Mr Tyre is slightly wrong in that its not a Perkins copy, it is in fact a Perkins commisioned design but manufactured by Mazda. It was commisioned by Land rover as a 'high life, high demand marine grade straight 4 diesel engine'. Land drover were said to be impressed by every aspect except the manufactoring costs required so never continued with the project. Mazda purchased the design and rights to manufactur from either Perkins or Land rover (not sure which) with the clause that they were never to sell the engine in the European market (obviously to prevent compition with perk/land) hence you see an awful lot of them in Australia and Africa (and USA as the Ford Trader)
Mpg is pretty good in my opinion, I have a double cab 130 with the SL35 and I get 30mpg, its not the quickest, certainly the noisiest, but will pull anything and never fails...... love it!!!
Filters are very easy to get, ebay and local motor factors have plenty.
Biggest problem is trying to get information/manuals for it.
Hope this helps!

most of the ones in the uk came from motor and diesel who are now near sleaford,as said a superb engine for towing duties, many were coupled to autoboxes and used in range rovers.parts can still be had from motor and diesel.

Looks like you got a pretty impressive engine, and the best version with it being turbo-intercooled
