Have done a few more miles in it today and still cant fault it....comfortable, easy to drive, plenty of room (have not hit my right elbow once Laughing ).

Cheers Brian Very Happy

That looks to be in very good condition quite stupid the low prices that they are going for at the present time.

Agree about the stupid price. I realise a lot of drivers would be put off by fuel consumption but, compared to a lot of similar trucks, the mpg is not to bad.

I am fortunate that it's not my daily driver (have a car for work) and will prob only do around 2000 miles a year, last year was 1100 miles Shocked so, in reality, it's the tax and insurance that works out expensive. You do get a lot for your money, and with the Jeep it seems to be standard.

Have had a look at some spares and, compared to L.R. or Shogun, dont seem to be much more Very Happy . All in all i'm very pleased with it, wish i had got one sooner Laughing .

think is you shouldnt need many parts if its been looked after, good putlets are available aswell

The fuel consumption is no worse than my Landcruiser and i have 600 cc less

Just out of curiosity do you no longer have a Jeep from what you say it sounds like you just have the Landcruiser.

Sorry if I am being nosey but what happened to the Cherokee and why did you get a Toyota apart from them being stronger and bigger as most people tend to downsize I think.

its now at an offroad adventure centre on Poland being used for what it was built for

http://www.vimeo.com/26198617

https://picasaweb.google.com/1113103331812695714...p;feat=directlink

The Landcruiser was the obvious option after the Jeep really, the Colorado wasnt what I was looking for though it was a stumble across while looking for an 80 Series. The Landcruiser its a lot different to the Jeep in every way apart from Fuel consumption, most and I mean most are better, the only downside is getting used to the front independant suspension, I loved my Jeep but I have to say this is a very different truck Very Happy The space is great, the drive is far far better, its quicker, quieter, more stable and above all it should prove to be more reliable, having said this aprt from one hick up with the Jeep that was great for 4 years of abuse

this is the problem with having a big 4x4 in this country we just to not have the open spaces to use them properly ok there are a few places that you can off road properly but not that many.

I have come to the conclusion that for our type of off roading and green laneing the best type of truck is a small one like a suzuki vetara that are good for having fun for a few hours but if you wanted to go out in to the wild for a few days you would want something bigger.

the Cruiser manoevours better than the Jeep and having laned as far down as Essex and up as far as Cumbria I wouldnt want to do it in a Vitara, the Jeep was fine for the long journeys given the creature comforts but this is better given the extra space and creature comforts

Not sure if anyone replied to your 'readout' question, but it's pretty straight-forward. The LH button selects 'US' (read: 'English') or 'Metric'; the RH button scrolls through the options such as range, consumption, magnetic direction, temp. etc. I tend to leave mine on 'direction' and 'temp' as the fuel consumption scares me to death! (Joking really - it's no good around town, but on a long swing down the A303 to Devon, for example, I can get mid- to hi-20s mpg if I keep to 70mph or less.
Problem is the vehicle is so solid and sweet at 80, it's easy to 'blow' the target consumption figs....
Like the color of yours - a nicer red than mine which is pretty dark (called 'Siena' I think).
I change my engine oil every 3000mi which is probably over-keen, but the engine seems to thrive on it - they are generally considered to be unburstable (assuming treated sensibly) and mine feels that way. Nice to have a chain-driven cam, too - no fiddling with timing belts.
Good luck with yours. Mine is a Nov. 2000 'Classic', by the way.
J.C.
P.s. call me on 01256-764193 if you want to talk 'Jeep Cherokee'. I'm not an expert to the nth degree, but am a genuine enthusiast with several reference books etc.

You sure about that? I seem to recall checking my conversion from metric to imperial and it was spot on.

My '97 is showing 21.9l/100km and 12.9mpg, exactly the conversion expected for a UK car.

Not convinced. Jeep would have to knowingly entered false conversion data into the trip computer.

Go on a US Jeep forum and tell them you're getting high 20's mpg (US), see what they say.

Is your "metric" gallon anything like the imperial gallon? Just wondering because 11.3 seems low.
