|
|
|
I receive spam emails from Difflock, which I don't want. I have sent a request to be removed from the list for these emails to the info@difflock email address on several occasions. Not only have I not had the courtesy of a reply, but they have been studiously ignored, as the spam keeps coming.
What, exactly, do I have to do to stop receiving these emails?

Spam?
The Difflock store is what pays for this free to use forum so receiving the odd e-mail advertising special offers in the shop is a small cost to keep the forum going IMO.
If you feel that it is such an inconvenience to receive these e-mails then perhaps this is not the forum for you.

What a predictable response! I would argue that by contributing to the forums, and answering queries, one is repaying one's debt and ensuring that the forum continues. I am a member of several free Jeep forums that operate on this basis - and I don't get marketing stuff from them.
I never agreed to receive marketing blurb, and I don't want it. No 'opt out' option for marketing emails is offered, which I believe is illegal under the DPA, and no contact phone number is given either. It is pointless sending unwanted emails to someone who doesn't want them, as they will clearly not be read and therefore serve no purpose.
I also don't want comments from anyone other than those that this thread is aimed at - i.e. those who run Difflock - so please keep your opinions to yourself.

If you don't want an opinion don't post on a public forum - simples.
I think I speak on behalf of the owners of this forum when I say if you don't like the way this forum operates then you are free to delete your account at any time.

Nope - you're speaking on behalf of yourself as a trader.

Actually I'm speaking as an individual long term user of the forum and also a moderator appointed by the owners. My trader status has no bearing on my opinion what so ever.
My moderator status means that I am involved in a small way in the day to day running of this forum and therefore I feel I am qualified to answer your query.
I will, however, bring your post to the owner's attention.

I should explain that we arent merrily doing nothing about this.
We are working on integrating a newsletter within the current software that more easily opts out of receiving these.
I am heartened equally by the spirit of the responses from members asking why we dont have more specials and keep them up to date.
Obviously getting the above issues sorted out is a priority in the first instance.

Hi Anton
Yes, I can confirm that I did receive your email - but unfortunately did not pick it up until a few minutes ago. I have now responded to you via email. Please feel free to lock this thread.
Regards
Nick
