We've arrived in Ludlow for our overnight stop before the event starts tomorrow.

Off for a few beers - just to help us sleep!

Colin phoned me earlier and asked me to give everyone an update, when he called me earlier but kids were around and wrote down the details quickly so they will be a bit sketchy.

They started of around Shropshire then on to Wales where they covered some forestry ground and the sweet lamb rally school. They didn't manage to find all of the markers but i believe they didn't do too badly.

When they called me at 19.10 hours they were in good spirits and heading for Holyhead and were 102 miles away and had to be there by midnight when they could hopefully catch some sleep.

Colin said that Ian is doing a good job and so far they haven't fallen out lol,Michael and Bert were a distance behind them but seemed to be having good fun too.

Colin called again at 22.35 to tell me they had just reached Holyhead,Thier boat sails at 2-30am and they should reach Ireland around 5/5.15am and head towards Galway.

Colin sounded absolutley shattered on the phone and said he was even at the point he was past food and just wanted sleep.
Ian had driven to Holyhead and apparently the journey was a complete nightmare..............in the background Ian mumbled some profanities in amongst complaining that he needs sleep lol.

Bert and Michael are some 50 miles behind so should reach Holyhead in plenty time.

Again apologies for the sketchiness asthe kids were making noise but they will call again tomorrow with more updates.

Appart from the tiredness they seem in good spirits Very Happy

Back in Dublin waiting for the ferry. 750 miles done to date. Sections yesterday and today in Mayo and Connemara. Spent last night in Cong - the home of the Quiet Man. Went as far west as Galway so we went from the east coast to the west coast and back.

Just one more day to go

Gordon Bennett Ian you guys really are packing the miles in aren't. Is it me or is there a bit of irony that u flew from the Emerald island to Luton to drive all the way back to then come back to Luton to then fly home?

Yes pretty ironic. Was about 200 miles and 200 years from home. I did ask Jaqi to pop down and make us breakfast but for some reason she said no.

I did tell Colin a few months ago I suspected that was were we were going but then that's obviously why I'm such a good navigator!

Just had a call from a rather chipper sounding Colin.

They had a good night last night and were the first back at Dublin docks due to their skill and amazing superhuman abilities. They completed the off-road sections but the organisers cancelled them for some reason, hopefully the scores will still count.

They landed back in Blighty (or Holyhead which is close enough) at 0215 this morning and were then send off round Wales chasing sheep and trying to avoid the speed cameras. Colin was saying that they are at Balla just now waiting to be sent off round the off-road course there.

apart from that they are happy enough with the sections they have completed and Colin reckons that they are getting the majority of the questions right.

I did ask how he was getting on with Ian and all I could hear was muffled muttering in the background. Fingers crossed that Colin will release Ian before the end of the trip.

Arrived at the hotel after today's final 2 sections. Bit tired but nothing a few pints of Guiness won't cure.

Colin will post an update shortly - I'm off to the bar!

Hi All,

well we have now finished the event and am enjoying a pint in the bar. Ian did a good job as a navigator and even taught me how to do it. I in return taught him how to write his name using different colour crayons (he just has to get the spelling right Laughing ).

We are tired and think we have done as well as could be expected given our language barriers, we will find out our total overall position later tonight so we will let you know as soon as we do.

Many thanks for all of the support, it really has spurred us on.

Best wishes

Colin & Ian, car 2 Laughing

Sorry Winnet. Thought I had answered your question. We used about £300 inc tolls so I think we were OK for money as I will claim the vat back
