I currently run a 1983 one-ten which has been converted to 200tdi.

on looking at the fuel filter on the bulkhead, it is the traditional short squat filter with the cup on the bottom with the drain, and bolted to the head from the top.

the proper 200tdi fuel filter is a longer filter hand tightened with a drain plug built in.

I believe that they are incompatable with each other in the fact that there is nothing for the 200tdi filter to 'screw onto' within the head.

Will having the old filter head effect the performance of the engine, or should I fork out for a newer head?

P.S. I have had this set up for approx 10 years and have just really scratched my head with it.

Cheers

You could also go to a scrappy and get a filter head from a diesel car & buy a filter to suit the donor car. (Or persevere with the old Lucas Cav one, a bit fiddly but easy enough to do with patience) and filters are very cheap for them.

Keep the lovely old CAV one with the bowl on the bottom, its always interesting to play "poke the jellyfish" when it comes to filter change time!
