you add a volvo m40 gearbox (which is a very small gearbox)in between your std gearbox and the transfer case input(in place of the short prop)...this provides extra gear reduction....another gearbox that can be used in the same way is from an old bedford cf van.

Waveyzuk had a similar set up.. Bedford CF gearbox fitted..
I have a Bedford CF gearbox and did a bit of work to mod it to fit it where the short prop goes.. But gave up after I couldnt split the box the change the main shaft bearing.
Someone else on here had a Volvo box they were going to fit..
Great mod if you pull it off..

It's me that has the M40 gearbox. Unfortunately the one I have was the overdrive version, so the ley shaft is way too long once the O/D unit was taken off. I need to get it shortened and a plate made to cover the rear bearing. My cunning plan was to make an adaptor for the front flange and get a Suzuki flange fitted on the output end.
The beauty of the old CF and Volvo boxes is that they had removable bellhousings. I am sure other gearboxes could be adapted by taking Mr Angry to the bellhousing. I have a spare SJ410 gearbox that is a bit knackered. I might have a practise on that.
The guy who did the original said there were some vibration issues to start with.

I thought it was Phil
Waveyzuk works really well having such a wide selection of gears.. I just didnt like the flange welded to the input shaft as it means the bearing can't be replaced in the future.
Cult Zuk though

Ive used a supercarry box best mod ive got
Next time i would use a 410 box as i dont need the remote cable operated gearstick
Gear ratio's are very low ive got a 410 engine running samurai axles with 7.50r16 tyres.
Short prop between main gearbox and extra box
Complete box prior to fitting
Had to make a bracket to move the gearstick back from the main gearbox to get it into the right place
I moved the transferbox back 50mm
and the engine forward as much as possible
But even with the short prop removed it is a long way forward
It is possible to get the front shaft of the second box even shorter but it would require machining and i didnt have access or funds to do that
Cheers nick
